Duffy's Tavern

Duffy's Tavern was an American situation comedy radio series that aired from 1941 to 1951. It was later a television series that aired in 1954.

The opening of Duffy's Tavern began with the sound of a piano playing "When Irish Eyes are Smiling," sometimes with several people singing along. A telephone ringing would cut through the music. Archie would answer the phone: "Duffy's Tavern where the elite meet to eat. Duffy ain't here, Archie the manager speaking" (short pause) "Oh hello Duffy."

Archie the manager, played by Ed Gardner, led the antics at the bar & grill on Third Avenue. Regulars included Ms. Duffy (Duffy's daughter, who was man-crazy), Eddie the janitor/helper around the bar, and Clifton Finnegan, the loveable moron.

Almost every week there was a guest star, from Shelley Winters to Nigel Bruce.
