Old Time Radio and Movies/Animation Questions

Will these play in a standard (audio) CD player?
No. Our OTR products are recorded in MP3 format. They will only be playable on computer systems or on CD players designed for MP3 playback. If you're unsure of the formats supported by your player, check with the manufacturer, or visit DVDRhelp.com to see if they have your player listed. Remember: DVDs and CDs are not the same. Most portable MP3 players do not support DVD discs. [top]

Will this play in a my home DVD player?
Possibly. Some newer DVD players support audio playback on both CD and DVD media, while older models that claim to support MP3 playback will only recognize them on CD-ROM media. If you don't know what formats are supported by your player, visit DVDRhelp.com to see if they have your player listed. Remember: All our DVDs are recorded on DVD-R media. Check to see if your player will work with DVD-R, DVD+R, or both. [top]

What is the difference between CDs and DVDs?
Generally, people think of CDs holding music and DVDs holding movies. On the computer, CDs and DVDs have much more versatile uses. In the case of most of our products, we use both types of discs to store data files, like books or Old Time Radio episodes. The key difference in the two is the amount of files that can be stored on a disc. CD media (discs) can hold up to 700 Megabytes of data. DVD media can hold approximately 4.5 Gigabytes of data (about 7 CDs). Remember, there are two different types of DVD media, DVD-R and DVD+R. Check the documentation of your drive to see which media is supported. We use DVD-R media unless otherwise noted. [top]

What is the difference between DVD+R and DVD-R?
DVD+R is a newer format that offers special features for those recording movies. DVD-R is still used, and some drives will be able to read both formats. Most Macintosh DVD drives only support DVD-R media. Check with your drive manufacturer to see which types of discs will work in your drive. You can also visit DVDRhelp.com to check compatibility, or read more technical information about the format differences at DVDRhelp.com. All our discs are recorded using DVD-R media. [top]

Do you include partial shows or shows with poor audio quality?
Yes. In order to provide the most complete collections possible, we do include shows like this. As we find better quality shows, we replace them in the collections. The collectors among us prefer to have even a partial show over no show at all. [top]

What is the bitrate of your OTR shows?
This varies. The vast majority of shows are recorded at either 24 or 32kbps. Due to the nature of the original recordings, bitrates higher than 32kbps don't show a large increase in audio quality. These are not 'digitally remastered' titles, but are highly enjoyable, at a fraction of the cost. [top]

Your ad states that your discs include MP3 Players. What does that mean?
Most discs include software MP3 players for PCs, which are programs that must be installed in order to play the audio files. We've included two freeware players, though you can use any software you currently use to play MP3 files, including Windows Media Player, which comes standard on most systems. [top]

Classic Literature

Will these play in a standard (audio) CD player?
No. Our Classic Literature products are electronic books presented in multiple formats. While some formats, such as Acrobat Reader and Microsoft Reader have a text-to-speech feature, they will not play without the aid of a computer. [top]

Why haven't you included 'x' title from this author?
Most likely for one of two reasons. The first is that the title may not be in the public domain. For some authors, part of their works are public domain, while their later works remain protected by copyright. The second is simply availability. We try to add new titles to the collections whenever we can, but it is hard to keep up! [top]

What are the differences in the formats? .PDF, .LIT, .HTM?
Most of our collections are presented in two or three reading formats. The reader is the program that presents the book to you on the screen, or reads it aloud through your computer. Adobe Acrobat Reader (.PDF) is great for printing books and features a nice text-to-speech engine allowing the computer to 'read' the book aloud. Microsoft Reader (.LIT) is one of the better formats for reading text online. It allows the reader to make notes and annotations, place bookmarks, and also features text-to-speech. HTML or Webpage (.HTM) format is just as you see here. The book is presented on screen just like a website, though no Internet connection is required.

The software required to read each format available in the collection are free downloads, but are included on the CDs for your convenience. [top]

eBay Order Questions

If I order multiple items, how do I get combined shipping and handling?
We always combine shipping and handling, so you simply pay the single highest fee of all the items in your order. To take advantage, first purchase all you items with Buy It Now, then go through eBay checkout for one item. It will know that you have multiple purchases and offer to combine them for you. The discounted shipping and handling will be reflected in the total. [top]

Will you place 'x' value or check 'Gift' on the customs form for my shipment?
No. This would be a violation of the law. Please do not order from us if you are not willing to pay all applicable duties/tariffs. We are required to place the value of ordered items, not including shipping and handling fees, on the customs form. [top]

What is your mailing address?
Our mailing address for payment and returns is:

SpinSmart Software
4717 S. Hydraulic
Wichita KS  67216 [top]

Why are you not replying to my e-mails?
We probably are! Normally we answer all questions within 24 hours, but sometimes our messages never get through. Spam blockers and Internet Service Providers block all sorts of important email. In some cases, and ISP will block all mail coming from a server. This is great to block spam, but unfortunately, with shared hosting, there may be 100 other innocent sites on that server.

If you haven't heard from us in response to your question within 24 hours during the business week, drop us another line and let us know. We'll reply to you from a different account, so your answer can get through.

If you're using a service that requires anyone mailing you to verify themselves, it may delay your answer. If you have a chance, add support@spinsmart.com to your whitelist. We will NOT spam you. [top]
